Relaxation (Day 2 of 3) Grounds You

Relaxation can take place in many forms.  It can happen in a more meditative state or being more active can even help relieve stress and bring on relaxation.  It may depend on your stress level and where you are when the stress hits your body and mind.  It is important to have a “bucket list” of stress relievers so you are ready when feeling overwhelmed.  There are also ways to help prevent stress from hitting you full force.

Getting on a regular workout routine can help prevent episodes of stressful situations.  Exercise is a great form of stress relief and once you do it consistently your body will crave it and want more of it. In turn, it will help you to relax after getting in a good workout and doing something more active for your body.

Here are a few things you can do to relieve stress in a more active way:

  1. Walking
  2. Running
  3. Yoga
  4. Swimming
  5. Dancing
  6. Paddle Board
  7. Kayak
  8. Go fishing
  9. Stretching
  10. Foam Roll (great for the muscles)
  11. Biking
  12. Hiking

All of these are a great way for you to feel more grounded, clear your mind, feel more relaxed and relieve stress.  For me, being active helps me to relax because it takes my mind off of the stressful things I have going on in my life.  Keeping busy for me is key!  Having said that, you may be the opposite and enjoy more of a meditative state.  When the mood strikes me or my body needs it, I tend to turn to yoga.
