Gadget Girl Series Day 7

Warmer weather is here!  It’s time for summer salads and cooking on the grill.  There are so many favorites that I have, which are easy recipes to eat healthy especially with fresh grown produce from all those gardens around you.  I could eat just fruits and veggies all summer long and be content.  Prepping fruits and vegetables for salads and meals can be time consuming because of all the washing, chopping and slicing.  There are so many gadgets to help with fruit and veggie prep to make meal time less stressful.

This gadget is great for slicing strawberries, eggs, bananas, kiwi, mushrooms and other fruits for salads.  Easy way to slice mushrooms for grilling.  Perfect for summer fruit salads  and a decorative way to display eggs for a party or event.

Here is a delicious, easy summer salad recipe for those hot days, and also to bring to your cookouts this summer.  Just don’t add the dressing until it’s ready to be served.


  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 (6-oz.) bags baby spinach
  • 1 (16-oz.) container strawberries, quartered
  • 1 (4-oz.) package crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced toasted almonds
  • Bottled red wine vinaigrette
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste



Toss together red onion and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Drizzle with red wine vinaigrette; sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
