Day 5 Consistency (Sleep)

Getting enough sleep…one of the biggest struggles I hear from people.  Do you get enough sleep every night?  What exactly is the right amount of sleep?  Now I know for some, such as for new moms, this can seem impossible.  However, whenever possible it is so important to stay on a consistent sleep schedule and routine.  It is recommended to get 7-8 hours of sleep daily.

Check out my latest video to learn more about some of the things that help me get a better nights rest.

Here are some benefits why getting enough sleep is so important:

  1. Helps reduce stress
  2. Keeps your heart healthy
  3. Makes you more alert
  4. Improves your memory
  5. Helps with weight loss
  6. Helps your body to recover from the day

How do you feel when you don’t get enough sleep?  When you are not sleeping consistently you may feel irritable, angry, have decreased energy, difficulty focusing and just a hard time functioning day-to-day.  Lack of sleep can even cause physical symptoms, such as headaches and body aches.

Now, here are a few tips to help stay consistent with your sleep schedule:

  1. Go to bed the same time each night
  2. Wake up the same time each morning
  3. Have a bed time routine and stick with it
  4. Don’t fall asleep watching TV
  5. Keep it dark in your room
  6. Exercise daily
  7. Eat a balanced diet
  8. Meditate before bed to fully relax your mind from the stress of the day
  9. Unwind from the day by reading.  For me, this is when I read a few chapters in my personal development book

Some other tips that may help are to invest in a good mattress and pillow.  If possible, rotate your mattress or flip it every 6 months or so.  I’d like to share the pillow that I have been using and love.
